A streaming community before streaming was obvious.
At NAB 2000, Media 100, Digital Origin, Canon, Beatnik, Kensington Digital Fridge, Terran Interactive, and Wired announced a streaming media alliance. Its first public initiative was iCanStream.com, described by Videomaker as the world's first website dedicated to teaching new and experienced video enthusiasts the basics of streaming media.
The recovered iCanStream.tv archive adds the personal side of the story: a team evangelizing streaming media online and through seminars in Korea, Japan, Australia, and across the United States, while the site grew from 0 to 250,000 monthly unique visitors in one year.
